Messaging service WhatsApp just unveiled a new set of features to users and beta testers that elevate it to the likes of Telegram, Google Meet, and other productivity apps.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned service is introducing a password reminder feature for end-to-end encrypted backups for iOS and Android, requiring users to enter their password to check if it’s correct.

Drafted messages will also come with a “draft” label and be placed on top of the chat list for WhatsApp beta for Windows users.

Several other features have also been spotted in beta versions of the app.

In WhatsApp beta version 2.23.11.15 for Android, users will soon be able to select unique usernames for their own account instead of using their own phone numbers – just like in Telegram.

Conversations between username-holders will also be end-to-end encrypted.

Meanwhile, the 2.23.11.19 version of the Android app allows users to share their screens after pressing a button that confirms and begins sharing the contents of their screen to other members of a video call.

The feature, similar to Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, may also record the portions of a call where a screen is shared.

Other features available to beta testers include a new interface in the group settings tab, as well as a new and improved Updates tab.

All beta features are still in development, and the company has given no proper date as to when they will roll them out to the public.

The app’s recent developments come after it rolled out new features at the start of the month, such as the ability to filter polls and make them easier to find within chats, receive notifications to poll responses, and editing captions when forwarding media to other chats.
