Gucci is taking a step further into the metaverse with a long-term partnership with Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Yuga Labs.

The Italian luxury fashion house has just announced a multi-year contract with the blockchain technology company known for creating NFTs and digital collectables. The partnership aims to extend to each company’s communities, increase engagement and explore the intersection between fashion and entertainment in augmented reality.

“We are excited to unveil this multifaceted partnership with Yuga Labs, a leader, and creative pioneer in web3. This will give us an active role in Otherside and 10KTF’s continuing narrative, unfolding in multiple forms,” said Robert Triefus, CEO of Gucci Vault and Metaverse Ventures.

Details of the collaboration are still unknown except that it will begin this week. It is clear that Gucci seeks to continue investing in Web3 to build community and find alternative methods to generate revenue.

This is not the high-end brand’s first time dabbling with the metaverse. Just last year, Gucci collaborated with digital artisan Wagmi-san, better known as 10KTF, in a project titled “Gucci Grail."

A collection of personalized NFTs, envisioned by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele and created by Wagmi-san, was released.

“A magic globe encapsulates the imagination of Alessandro Michele and Wagmi-san, and those who come into possession of it usher in a new form of self-expression across dimensions,” stated the Gucci Grail project announcement.

With Gucci further exploring the metaverse and Yuga Lab’s expanding in the realm of NFT tokens, there is no doubt that this collaboration will explore new depths in the virtual world.
