When music meets art.
Popular graphic design company Canva has teamed up with Warner Music Group (WMG) and Merlin, enabling users to include music hits to their designs for the first time.
Canva's global community, consisting of 135 million users who create approximately 250 designs per second, will now have the ability to fully reimagine their creative visions by incorporating music into their designs.
The all-in-one design editor will be the first visual communication platform to integrate “commercially released music clips” during the design creation process.
“Music is such a fundamental expression of creativity and offers an inspirational starting point for many. We are thrilled to welcome Warner Music Group and Merlin to the Canva content ecosystem, and can’t wait to see what millions of music fans, content creators, educators, and beyond design using content from their favorite artists,” said Silvia Oviedo, Head of Content, Discovery & Print at Canva.
According to WMG's press release, the newly expanded feature will allow users to resize their designs for different channels and export them directly to social media platforms. “Canva customers can also add clips of their favorite tracks to presentations, internal training videos, educational videos, and more,” it wrote.
The good news is, artists and labels will be earning “royalties” when their song clips are used in published Canva designs.
The demand for content creation on Canva has soared as video-based social platforms drive the growth of the creative economy.
WMG highlighted a report from Cisco that witnessed a 70% increase in Canva video creation over the past year with “an increasing number of searches for specific audio tracks.”
Warner Music Group and Merlin's extensive libraries will be available to Canva Pro, Canva for Education, and Canva for Nonprofit customers.
Canva for Teams users will also gain access to the music clip feature.
