Kim Kardashian's SKIMS Summer Campaign Welcomes Back Iconic 90s Bombshells

Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand SKIMS has been pushing the boundaries of advertising with memorable ads since its launch in 2019. The brand’s newly released summer campaign is an example of the growing advertising trend of evoking nostalgia in viewers.  

The SKIMS campaign brings back legendary 90s bombshells Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra, inspired by recognizable pop culture ads from the 1990s.

The editorial images see McCarthy and Electra in the setting of a bright red carwash, sporting the new line of SKIMS swimsuits.  

While both actresses have been out of the public eye for some time, the editorial ad takes viewers back to a golden age in advertising, when the goal was to shock viewers and ensure they could not turn away.

"The energy on set was incredible, especially shooting alongside Carmen, who looks amazing! It felt like we were back in the 90s, and years later we're still having fun,” said McCarthy in an official statement. 

Carmen Electra made her Hollywood debut as a regular on Baywatch and later starred in hit parodies such as the Scary Movie franchise, while Jenny McCarthy became a pop culture regular after being named Playboy’s Playmate of the Year in 1995.
