Vox Media is expanding its podcast lineup with an award-winning show originally distributed by Spotify.
Psychotherapist and podcaster Esther Perel will be moving “Where Should We Begin?” to Vox, with the company taking the show’s sales, marketing and distribution responsibilities. Meanwhile, Magnificent Noise will continue to produce content for the podcast.
Through the partnership, Perel hopes to make the podcast an “always-on” show, ramping up production and releasing new episodes weekly.
“As the podcast has grown, we’ve eagerly sought creative partners to help us bring the podcast to even broader audiences. We’re beyond excited to begin working with Vox Media to bring new episodes to listeners every week – and perhaps a few surprises outside of the feed too,” she explained.
In line with the distribution partnership, the showrunners plan to release special bonus content for Apple Podcast subscribers. The renowned psychotherapist is also exploring collaborations with other Vox Media brands such as New York Magazine and The Cut.
Ray Chao, Vox Media’s SVP and General Manager for Audio and Digital Video, expressed excitement for the new partnership. “Esther brings a unique combination of talents to the podcast space: she informs us, entertains us, answers big questions that we’ve all had on our minds, and helps her listeners improve the relationships in their lives... She empowers us all to understand and navigate what it means to be human. We’re beyond thrilled to bring Esther’s influential voice to the Vox Media Podcast Network,” he explained.
“Where Should We Begin?” debuted on Audible in 2017 before moving to Spotify. The podcast explores the complexities of modern-day relationships through one-time therapy sessions featuring anonymous couples.
