Zoe Gabriel, the TikTok creator that went viral for describing a bag from Charles & Keith as “luxury,” is now the brand’s newest ambassador.
In celebration of International Women’s Month, the fashion brand will support the fight for women's rights through UN Women’s “Storytelling for Gender Equality” program by launching a purple edition of The Alia, one of its best-selling handbags.
Gabriel, 17 years old, has joined the slate of ambassadors who will serve as the faces of the brand campaign.
“By sharing what equity means to them, they join the network of female storytelling advocates working with UN Women, who contribute to the creation of positive social norms, policies to tackle violence and a safe environment for survivors of violence to speak up about their experiences,” the brand said in a press release.
The Singaporean teen took to Instagram to share the announcement.
Recently, Gabriel uploaded a TikTok where she happily showed off the Charles & Keith handbag she received as a gift from her father. In the video, she referred to the gift as her “first luxury bag.” This caught the attention of several TikTok users, leading them to ridicule her sentiment.
Due to the backlash, the content creator shared a follow-up video defending her stance. Her story caught the attention of people across social media platforms who were quick to defend her.
The founders of Charles & Keith eventually invited Gabriel and her father for a tour of the company’s Singapore headquarters.
