A teaser for BetMGM’s first Super Bowl ad is generating buzz and laughs as respected actor Vince Vaughn is shown outwitting Tom Brady and taking the football legend out of the picture, literally.
The 15-second teaser, which was released earlier today, opens with Vaughn and Brady getting ready to shoot a Big Game invite for the brand.
Vaughn then stops saying his line and asks Brady to move to the side. “Tom, do you mind being an angel and sliding over just a thing, and one more big step right there, and perfect.”
Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, obediently follows Vaughn’s instructions until he completely steps out of the frame.
Vaughn then proceeds to hog the Spotlight and invite viewers to “join the Big Game for a BetMGM commercial.”
Brady is heard off-camera letting Vaughn know, “This feels personal.” To which Vaugn sarcastically replies that he loves the memories the two are making.
The short clip offers a humorous glimpse of potential tension between the two men, who are big stars in their own fields.
This, along with the ad's association with a betting brand, has led to speculation that their on-screen dynamic mirrors a competitive wager gone wrong.
Brady himself added to the intrigue by stating on X that the filming “didn't go as planned.” The post has since been viewed nearly 600,000 times.
Meanwhile, BetMGM keeps its fingers crossed that Vaughn and Brady "can get it together in time" for the Big Game.
BetMGM has also confirmed the presence of a third star in the full Super Bowl ad: hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.
Though absent from the initial teaser, Gretzky's involvement suggests a broader narrative unfolding across the planned three-part ad campaign.
“We couldn’t be happier with the talent we have assembled for the ad, and the connection they have to our brand,” BetMGM’s Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said in a statement.
The online gambling and betting platform remains tight-lipped about the plot, leaving viewers to piece together clues and formulate their own theories.
With its A-list cast and cryptic storyline, BetMGM may just be one of the most anticipated commercials of the Big Game.
Super Bowl LVIII will be held on February 11 at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
