In a playful ad projected onto the Las Vegas Sphere, a Nickelodeon air tanker slimed helmets representing the Super Bowl LVIII contenders, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
The Las Vegas Sphere was spotted by residents early Thursday morning playing a Nickelodeon ad featuring popular cartoon characters SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star.
The ad on the Las Vegas Sphere, posted by an X user, serves as a lead-up to the Big Game happening on February 11, which will be broadcast live by CBS Sports on Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon partnered with the NFL in 2021 to make football games more attractive to younger demographics, ensuring a future generation of fans.
The network’s “The NFL Wild Card Game” which pits the New Orleans Saints against the Chicago Bears garnered over 2 million viewers, making it Nickelodeon’s “Nick’s most-watched program among total viewers in nearly four years and the number-one cable telecast of the week with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11.”
“In extending and broadening this partnership [with Nickelodeon], we wanted to deliver content that enables families to share their NFL fandom across generations – a key to growing our future fanbase,” Amanda Herald, VP of NFL marketing strategy and insights, said in a 2021 press release.
Nickelodeon then premiered “NFL Slimetime” in September 2021, featuring football game recaps riddled with exciting animation sequences.
Airing for three seasons, it showed the network’s commitment to presenting football in a way that resonates with Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences.
Two months ago, “The First Kids’ Network” announced that it would offer a kid-friendly Super Bowl LVIII broadcast alongside the traditional telecast.
The Big Game will be "live from Bikini Bottom," featuring SpongeBob and Patrick as commentators alongside experienced sportscasters Nate Burleson and Noah Eagle.
Expect appearances from other Nickelodeon characters and augmented reality enhancements that add humor and visual excitement to the game.
So, if you're looking for a fresh take on the Big Game, tune in to Nickelodeon on Sunday and join SpongeBob, Patrick, and the rest of the gang for an unforgettable Super Bowl experience.
