Salesforce, the parent company of Slack, announced its new partnership with OpenAI to integrate a ChatGPT app into its messaging platform.

The app, though still in its beta form, will use ChatGPT’s AI technology to provide millions of Slack users with instant conversation summaries, research tools, and message drafting for maximum productivity.

Built into the Slack platform, the app will be available along with 2,600 other integrations. “This ensures customers have granular controls to safely manage third-party access of Slack data. Any data that the app has permission to access will not be used to train ChatGPT’s language model,” the company explained in a press release.

Slack Chief Product Officer Noah Desai Weiss shared his thoughts on the ongoing partnership, saying “there couldn’t be a more natural fit.”

“This will give customers new superpowers by helping them tap the collective knowledge of their organization’s channel archives. We’re excited to partner with OpenAI to bring more generative AI powers directly into Slack to deliver productivity efficiencies for everyone,” he adds.

Meanwhile Zack Kass, Head of GTM for OpenAI, called Slack the “coolest workspace communication advancement ever,” being the lifeblood of the company’s communications.

“Injecting our own technology into this product has supercharged our ability to connect with and delight our customers. Life without it with our customers is unimaginable,” he explained.

While the app is still unavailable to the general public, people interested may sign up for the waitlist here.

Salesforce is just one of the many tech companies incorporating generative AI into their business.

Last week, social media platform Snapchat launched ‘My AI,” its very own AI chatbot also powered by ChatGPT.

“My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed pal,” the company shared.

Salesforce announces ‘Einstein GPT’

In the same day, the software developer launched its own ‘Einstein GPT’ - the world’s first generative AI CRM technology.

The newly developed tech will deliver AI-created content across sales, services, marketing, eCommerce and developers, “transforming customer experience with generative AI.

[By] combining proprietary Einstein AI models with ChatGPT or other leading large language models, customers can use natural-language prompts on CRM data to trigger powerful, time-saving automations, and create personalized, AI-generated content,” the company wrote.

As the “next generation” of Einstein, Salesforce’s AI technology, Einstein GPT has the ability to create personalized emails for salespeople, craft responses for customer service inquiries, create targeted content for marketers, as well as auto-generate codes for developers.

“Einstein GPT...is another way we are opening the door to the AI future for all our customers, and we’ll be integrating with OpenAI at launch.” said Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
