Meta is bringing a new and upgraded WhatsApp for Windows, giving it a faster loading speed and a user interface similar to the mobile app’s version.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement on his Instagram highlighting the Windows app’s new feature of end-to-end encrypted group calling.

“WhatsApp is the largest platform to provide a fully end-to-end encrypted messaging experience that allows cross-platform communication between mobile phones, computers, tablets and more,” the company claimed in a blog post.

WhatsApp also now allows users to host group calls with up to eight people and audio calls with up to 32 people. We’ll continue to increase these limits over time so you can always stay connected with friends, family and coworkers,” it wrote in a press release.

The messaging service is also introducing multi-device linking, improved syncing across devices and link previews and stickers.

The tech company has also recently launched a WhatsApp beta for Android tablets, while a beta for Mac desktops is still in the works.

Earlier this week, the messaging app also rolled out two group-related features.

The first lets admins easily scan user requests to join their group with a “Pending Participants” tab, giving them more control of their group’s privacy.

The other feature that allows users to find other users in common groups by searching their contact's name, which could be useful if they can’t remember the name of a group.
