McDonald's USA Teams Up with Keke Palmer for 2023 Black & Positively Golden Campaign

Golden Arches, McDonald’s franchise corporation, officially unveiled its list of 2023 Black & Positively Golden Change Leaders – 10 young Black “movers-and-shakers" inspiring and enacting change in their communities. The 10 will participate in a year-round national advertising campaign voiced over by none other than award-winning actress, Keke Palmer. 

In a press release, the company explained that the goal of the campaign is to further propel, highlight and celebrate Black history beyond Black History Month.  

“This program was created to provide the proper resources needed to help young Black community leaders succeed in their endeavors. These change leaders have the opportunity that we know will have a lasting impact on their communities, and we remain committed to not only celebrating but assisting change makers of the future,” said Alexea Gordon, the McDonald’s Manager of Cultural Engagement. 

The 10 Change Leaders will receive $20,000 each (totaling $200,000) to help with amplifying their advocacies that range from financial literacy, equality in education, and mental health. They will also have their stories shared in McDonald’s Black & Positively Golden Instagram each month.

 In a statement, Palmer expressed her excitement over the partnership, paying homage to the young trailblazers “who are creating the change they want to see in their communities.”  

“Each day, they are shaping history for the next generation, and I can’t wait for the world to see how they are creating a better tomorrow,” she explained. The actress will serve as the campaign’s ambassador to participate in various TV and radio advertisements throughout the year.  

Through history, McDonald’s has been known for championing the accomplishments of the communities it serves. “We also recognize the importance of celebrating the community leaders who are starting something today to change everything tomorrow,” Gordon shared.  

“This program was created to provide the proper resources needed to help young Black community leaders succeed in their endeavors. These change leaders have the opportunity that we know will have a lasting impact on their communities, and we remain committed to not only celebrating but assisting change makers of the future.”
