McDonald’s is collaborating with the K-Pop supergroup NewJeans to come up with a special meal to be released next month.
The five-piece group famously known for hits such as “OMG,” “Ditto,” and “Cookie” have been tapped by the fast-food giant to become its newest wave of endorsers.
McDonald’s Korea first teased the upcoming collaboration on its Instagram account last Saturday, posting a video of its signature logo shaped like bunny ears – referencing “bunnies,” or the fandom name of the popular K-group.
The brand followed up with two more teasers with an animated illustration of a McDonald’s meal in one, and a voice clip of a NewJeans member saying “crispy” in another.
NewJeans then made the collaboration official with a post today. “New face of @mcdonalds_kr badababa,” it wrote.
Based on the social media teasers, the NewJeans x McDonald’s Korea Meal will include a crispy chicken sandwich, fries & drink with specially-designed packaging.
McDonald’s is famously known for tapping into celebrity and artist endorsers to create special meals as part of its brand strategy. The fast-food chain has previously collaborated with K-Pop boy band BTS in 2021 to create the BTS meal – a six-piece chicken nuggets meal served with fries, a drink, and two special limited-edition sauces.
In 2020, the fast-food chain collaborated with global artist Travis Scott to launch the Travis Scott Meal and Cactus Jack x McDonald’s limited-edition clothing apparel.
The McDonald’s-NewJeans officially drops in South Korea on March 2.
