Logitech’s president and chief executive officer (CEO), Bracken Darrell, has stepped down after 10 years, the company has announced in a statement.
The tech firm said that Darrell had decided to leave to "pursue another opportunity" but provided no other details.
“After nearly a decade of consistent growth and building market leadership across multiple categories, I feel this is a good point to hand over leadership,” Darrell said.
Although Darrell’s resignation was effective as of June 13, he will continue to remain with the company to facilitate a smooth transition over the coming month.
Board member Guy Gecht will take on the role of interim CEO while the Switzerland-based company, which is known for its peripherals and software development, conducts a global search of internal and external candidates to replace Darrell.
During Darrell's tenure, Logitech reinvented itself into one of the industry’s most innovative design companies with over 200 awards from the likes of CES, iF Design, Red Dot, Good Design and IDA.
“I want to thank all the amazing people across Logitech for their work through the years. I will work with Guy and the board to ensure a smooth transition and I will continue to be a customer, shareholder, and enduring fan of Logitech and its products,” Darrell said.
Gecht was the chair of Logitech’s Technology and Innovation Committee and served on the company’s Audit Committee as well. In addition, he has been a non-executive member of Logitech’s board of directors since September 2019.
Before joining Logitech, Gecht founded and was the co-CEO of E.Merge Technology Acquisition Corp. Prior to that, he served as the CEO for Electronics for Imaging, Inc. In parallel with his work at Logitech, he also serves on the board of directors of Check Point Software Technology Ltd.
