Jersey Mike's Gets Danny DeVito for Hilarious New Sandwich Ad

American sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s has tapped Matilda star Danny DeVito to star in a new commercial promoting its famous subs. 

The 30-second “Coolest Thing” video ad starts with the veteran actor talking to the audience from a Jersey Mike’s restaurant.  

“At Jersey Mike’s, watching them freshly slice your subs is the coolest thing you’ll see. And the second coolest thing you’ll see... is this.”  

The 78-year-old actor then starts to cartwheel, jump rope, perform handstands and front flips, with the commercial using wackily convincing visual effects that make it look funny and believable.  

“Sliced right in front of you, the Jersey Mike’s thing, a sub above,” DeVito narrates as the video closes. 

The commercial, made by the Chicago-based creative agency Highdive, will be aired across FOX Sports CBS, NBC, ESPN, and other cable networks starting April 3.  

Coolest Thing is one of the many commercials Jersey Mike’s and DeVito have made together. Last year, the company alongside the actor released a series of commercials that centered around Jersey Mike’s sandwiches and DeVito’s comedic prowess.  

In February, the sandwich chain made a Superbowl ad - except it wasn’t actually aired during the Big Game. Marking another milestone for Highdive, “Jersey Mike’s Big Game Teaser” has the seasoned actor show its audience what they “might see” should the sandwich chain ever get an ad placement in the Big Game.  

“Jersey Mike's has tremendous momentum and our goal is to have a Big Game ad— just not this year," Jersey Mike's Chief Marketing Officer Rich Hope said in a press release.
