Google Cloud's former Vice President of Engineering, Eric Young, joins Snap as its new Senior Vice President of Engineering to enhance Snapchat, its photo messaging platform's "targeted ads on iOS."

The move comes on the heels of other strategic moves by Snap to strengthen its advertising division.

Despite its growing user base, Snapchat has faced difficulties in generating revenue at the same pace.

In his new role at Snap, Young will be responsible for overseeing the core tech infrastructure of the company. This includes enhancing Snap's ability to target and measure advertisements on Snapchat which has become more challenging due to recent privacy updates on Apple's iOS devices.

During his time at Google, Young played a crucial role in building the tech infrastructure for its various features, including search, ads, and YouTube. His expertise is considered to be beneficial in driving Snap's advertising capabilities forward.

Early this year, Rob Wilk, the former Head of Advertising at Microsoft, was appointed as Snap's President of the Americas region, and Darshan Kantak Google's former lead for product management in search ads also joined the social media company to lead the revenue product development.

By recruiting top talent from industry giants like Google and Microsoft, Snap is demonstrating its commitment to enhancing its advertising business.

Snap continues to innovate and evolve its products to provide engaging experiences for users while offering effective advertising solutions to businesses.
