Internet news and entertainment company BuzzFeed is working with artificial intelligence (AI) software developer OpenAI to create content for its consumers.

BuzzFeed co-founder and chief executive Jonah Peretti told employees that they can expect “AI-inspired content” to shift from an R&D state to part of the core business.

The company plans to use AI to create quizzes, brainstorm and help with personalizing the content for the Buzzfeed community.

“To be clear, we see the breakthroughs in AI opening up a new era of creativity that will allow humans to harness creativity in new ways with endless opportunities and applications for good,” Peretti explains, vowing to “lead the future of AI-powered content.”

BuzzFeed stocks rose more than 150% in trading following the news, as media industry leaders remain optimistic about using AI in business

Apart from BuzzFeed, other companies have taken a liking to AI technology, with plans to incorporate it into their business.

CNET has recently tested an AI engine to draft stories, looking into it as a potential storytelling tool moving forward. However, the results of the test showed it was not yet ready as it required corrections, and the company is still working towards improving the tool.
