Luxury vehicle manufacturer BMW has enlisted the help of respected Hollywood actor Christopher Walken to star in its latest Super Bowl teaser — except he has no idea what a "teaser" is.
The 15-seconder, aptly titled "Christopher Walken Stars in an Ad for an Ad," starts with Walken in a dimly lit hallway, facing away from the camera as he talks on the phone.
"What's a teaser?" the "Deer Hunter" actor asks the person on the other line. "So, it's like an ad for an ad?" he follows up, as he reveals his face.
Walken, confused as he is, asks the person why they would do that, before the spot cuts to black and ends with the BMW logo.
Directed by Academy Award nominee Bryan Buckley, the short clip serves as a lead-up to the German automaker's Super Bowl spot airing on February 11.
The ad will serve as a comeback for the brand after having a one-year hiatus from one of sports' biggest events.
BMW is among four car manufacturers airing commercials for this year's Big Game.
Toyota will showcase the Tacoma; Kia plans to exhibit its EV9 SUV; and Volkswagen has chosen to commemorate its 75th anniversary in the US market.
