Samsung is set to release the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro, a limited-edition smartphone paying homage to the classic SGH-E700 clamshell flip phone from 2003.
Bundled with three Flipsuit cards, a Flipsuit case, and a collector card, this device is a nostalgic nod to Samsung's historic innovation.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro commemorates the SGH-E700, a groundbreaking phone of its time with a built-in antenna and distinctive design.
Although Samsung hasn't officially disclosed the price, it's speculated to be around $1,185. This limited-edition phone will be available in select markets starting in November, including South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and Australia.
Inspired by the SGH-E700, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro features a design with indigo blue and silver colors. The package includes three Flipsuit cards with logos from different Samsung eras, a Flipsuit case, and a collector card with a unique serial number.
In terms of specifications, it's expected to match the standard Galaxy Z Flip 5, featuring a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED cover display with a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and an Adreno GPU, it offers up to 8 GB RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Running on Android 13-based OneUI 5.1, it promises a user-friendly experience.
The camera setup includes a 12 MP wide-angle lens, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10 MP front camera for selfies.
It houses a 3,700 mAh battery with 25 W fast charging support and includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Expect IPX8 water resistance, 5G and 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.3, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
Overall, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro beautifully combines nostalgia and modern technology in one device.
