NordVPN has just announced the launch of NordLabs, scheduled to begin work as early as September.
NordLabs will provide a platform for developers and engineers to tackle security and privacy questions in experimental tech, allowing them to test and develop new approaches.
The platform will also provide early access to developing projects for members of the Nord community.
Martynas Paškauskas, the Head of Web Engineering at NordLayer, spoke about the benefits and risks of emerging technologies such as AI development in a recent interview with DesignRush.
"We can look at AI as a terrible thing, but it can also be used to deal with those attacks. It's a double-edged sword," Paškauskas argued.
NordLabs seeks to tackle these topics through innovative solutions focused on cybersecurity.
The company is already working on two projects titled Project Sonar and Project Pixray that deal with the importance of cybersecurity.
Project Sonar is developing a browser extension that aims to use AI to protect users from phishing attacks, while Project Pixray is taking on the challenge of verifying AI-generated images.
"We do not expect all projects appearing in NordLabs will later become fully maintained standalone products. But we are thrilled about the opportunity to support cutting-edge technologies for a better internet," concluded Vykintas Maknickas, the Head of Product Strategy at Nord Security.
