Fitbit is turning heads with the announcement of a redesigned app, "redesigned with you in mind," scheduled to come later this fall.
By putting a minimalist aesthetic and a more user-friendly app design first, Fitbit is refreshing its brand identity for the first time following its acquisition by Google in 2021.
The new layout of the Fitbit app enunciates the importance of metrics and personalization with a three-tab structure consisting of Today, Coach, and You.
"Today" presents users’ top stats that allow them to easily customize metrics based on personal goals.
"Coach" offers motivating and curated health and fitness content such as workouts and mindfulness sessions, with even more content available for Fitbit Premium subscribers.
The "You" tab allows users to adjust their personal details and goals, keep up with community connections, and check out the newly designed achievement badges.
Updated according to user feedback, the new and improved Fitbit also features a refreshed color palette, featured photographs, and illustrations, reminiscent of Google Material Design standards.
Security and privacy data settings have also been updated with an "easy to understand privacy experience that features unified controls to manage your Fitbit data and permissions."
Select users are already being invited to test the app in a limited beta version.
However, all users will have access to the new chapter in Fitbit’s Google journey this fall, with ongoing updates "that support new experiences, devices, and data" planned for the future.
