Duolingo isn’t just one of the most popular language learning apps worldwide, it’s also #1 in Barbie Land.
After a surprise appearance in last week’s Barbie premiere in Los Angeles, the app’s green owl mascot Duo took promotions to new heights with a new theater ad that plays just before the Barbie movie.
In the 30-second spot, the mascot is seen donning blond hair, a cowgirl hat, and a hot pink, star-studded costume similar to Barbie actress Margot Robbie’s signature look in the movie.
Duo then asks the audience to translate a simple sentence, similar to how the Duolingo app works.
“Duolingo: the #1 language learning app in Barbie Land,” the commercial ends.

Apart from the brief advertisement, the owl was also spotted making various cameos in the Greta Gerwig-directed film.
