OpenAI has confirmed its AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT will receive a dedicated Android app in the last week of July, with users already able to register for pre-orders on Google Play Store.
The artificial intelligence company announced in a Twitter post on Friday, adding a Google Play link from which Android users can register.

This is the first app made by OpenAI that is available on Google Play. In an official description, the Microsoft-backed company said the app will be free and allow users to sync their history across devices.
Based on its description available on Google Play, the app will be similar to the iOS version released in May. The iOS app works with both free and premium ChatGPT versions, providing users with:
- Instant answers
- Tailored advice
- Creative inspiration
- Professional input
- Learning opportunities
It is still unclear whether users will be able to use voice input on ChatGPT for Android as with iOS.
Meanwhile, existing concerns will extend to the Android app as the AI-powered chatbot remains prone to inaccuracies and straight making up information.
ChatGPT's Traffic Declines for the First Time
Following a rapid development of its user base since its launch in November, ChatGPT’s traffic declined for the first time last month. Per research data, ChatGPT’s global traffic decreased by 9.7% between May and June, with the number of unique visitors dropping by 5.7%.
This comes as ChatGPT continues to compete with similar AI-powered companions available on the market, including Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing Chat.
