Social media platform TikTok is launching its own music streaming service in Singapore, Mexico, and Australia, just two weeks after it launched in Brazil and Indonesia.
“TikTok Music” allows users to listen, download, and share tracks with the “combined power of music discovery on TikTok with a music streaming service offering millions of tracks from thousands of artists,” a spokesperson told Tech Crunch.
The platform also contains the music catalog of record giants such as Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music, and more.
Beta testing in the three countries will start today, and interested users can avail of a three-month trial of the new service.
To join, users can download the TikTok Music app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store or head to music.tiktok.com. They will also have the option to sync their current TikTok accounts to the platform instead of creating a new one.
According to reports, a subscription to TikTok Music will cost US$8.16 a month in Australia, US$6.86 in Mexico, and US$7.48 in Singapore.
While there’s no final date on the rollout of TikTok Music in the U.S., the company promises to reveal more information regarding its future launches soon.
“We are now beta testing TikTok Music in Australia, Mexico and Singapore, and will have more news to share on the launch of TikTok Music in the coming months,” it explained.
While TikTok is busy testing its entry into the music-streaming business, another audio streaming giant is busy expanding their services to include video.
According to a Bloomberg report, Spotify is planning to introduce full-length music videos on its platform to challenge the likes of YouTube and TikTok.
